Nissan has unveiled details of its new ground-breaking safety technologies set to join the current Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems. The forthcoming All-Around Collision Free prototype will include two all-new systems – Side Collision Prevention (SCP) and Back-up Collision Prevention (BCP).
The SCP activates side-mounted sensors when the driver decides to change lanes, and issues a warning if an approaching vehicle is detected in the driver’s intended lane. A mechanism is then activated setting the car on a different course through brake control of individual wheels, to help prevent a potential collision.
The BCP is activated whenever the car starts to reverse, with rear and side-mounted sensors detecting any objects in the path of the vehicle. Like the SCP if an object is detected an alarm sounds followed by the application of the brakes, to avoid a collision.
Nissan enforce that all the warning systems and safety features are designed to help support the driver in an intuitive manner with minimal intervention.
