Wraps taken off Audi’s new A6

Audi has revealed all on its updated A6 range – and Auto Express has the details. Going on sale in the UK this autumn, the luxury saloon will be revealed at the Moscow Motor Show later this month.

It gets a facelifted exterior, an upgraded cabin, plus a raft of new engines. The changes are crucial with a new BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class due within the next 12 months.

The look is sleeker, with tweaked bumpers, a revised grille and modified air intakes. Inside, Audi has introduced an updated version of the MMI cabin control system and added a new optional sat-nav that comes complete with a hard drive for music storage.

There’s a modified suspension set-up which increases grip, feedback and agility – but the biggest change is to the engine line-up. In comes a new direct-injection 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol unit, which produces 285bhp and propels the saloon from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, while returning 29.7mpg. Other petrol highlights include a 168bhp 2.0T FSI unit and a 215bhp 2.8-litre FSI V6, which uses variable valve timing to achieve 34mpg. Diesels include a new eco-minded 134bhp 2.0-litre TDI ‘e’ unit, which returns 53.3mpg combined and emits 139g/km of CO2.

As well as the saloon, there will be a facelifted Avant estate, Allroad and sporty S6, which boasts a 429bhp V10. However, the firm will also reveal a saloon version of the RS6 at Moscow. It uses the same 572bhp 5.0-litre twin-turbo V10 engine as the recently launched Avant variant.
